SMEs in Australia set to go social

17 November 2014

Advertising and engaging with clients was - in the past - reserved for corporations with near endless marketing budgets. However, with more channels than ever before being opened up to allow small to medium businesses access to whole range of potential customers, the playing field is being leveled.

Social media is of course the key asset at the core of that improved relationship building, and SMEs will get a further boost thanks to industry giant Twitter. The company announced last month that it's rolling out its advertising services to SMEs across Australia.

Offering a plethora of tools to measure engagement, the company hopes that it can help businesses across Australia drive leads, increase sales and add to overall website traffic.

The use of social media is set to become a key marketing tool for Australian SMEs, and it appears to already have the wider public on its side. Research of the country's Twitter users has shown that 70 per cent would be happy to be engaged by an SME via the social platform. Moreover, 62 per cent of those people would then actively strive to make a purchase from an SME, because of their presence on Twitter.

Small to medium enterprises in Australia are a key asset in keeping the country's economy stable and productive. According to figures published by the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, over 35 per cent of the value in the Australian economy comes from SMEs. More impressive is the fact that they employ nearly half of the national workforce, which equates to almost 5 million jobs.

With the potential for more transactions via the increased opportunities in digital marketing, ensuring your company has adequate business insurance cover is crucial. Elders Insurance can offer you a policy that is tailored to ensure that you're not only covered today, but also that you have the right preparations in place for any growth tomorrow, too.
