Prior to taking over the Elders Insurance Port Lincoln franchise some 13 years ago, Darren had a 23 year banking career with both ANZ Bank ( Branch Management positions ) and Elders Rural Bank ( District Banking Manager ) in rural South Australia and in the Northern Territory. These years of banking experience gave him great insight in to the risks associated with farming and small businesses in rural communities, and a thorough understanding of the importance placed upon local service, trust, availability and reliability by those clients. These are the key fundamentals around which he has built his insurance business, and which he continues to stress to his staff each and every day.
Being country born, bred and raised, Darren has an extensive knowledge of farming practices and equipment. His focus is on creating value for his clients, whilst ensuring that they have a detailed understanding of their risk exposures so that they can make informed decisions on the cover that they need. This can be simple things like understanding the current replacement costs of farm sheds and fencing, local builder prices for housing construction and repairs, trade availability and experience etc., and keeping abreast of any changes over time.
Darren considers some of his strengths to be his time management, attention to detail, customer first focus and loyalty.
Darren’s interests outside of work include golf, fishing, gardening, watching his kids play sport, family
Rebecca has worked in our family business in various capacities for the past 13 years. Her current specialty areas include Crop Insurance, Account Management, Payroll, Claims Processing, Customer Service and Personal & Landlords Insurance. Prior to working in the general insurance industry Rebecca travelled extensively overseas and worked in areas such as Data Security Systems and Banking. Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Arts degree specialising in Politics, and Graduate Certificates in Small Business Management and Tourism Operations. Her strengths include her attention to detail, time management and empathy.
Her interests include managing her busy family, travelling with family, reading, yoga and walking, and a nice glass of bubbles!
Wendy has only recently re-joined our team in June 2021, after a break of some 5 years when she moved to Adelaide to be closer to her family. During this time Wendy worked for other Elders Insurance agents in Adelaide, as well as for CGU Insurance in their Claims Department.
Wendy previously worked for us for 8 years and brings with her a thorough understanding of the Elders Insurance systems and processes, and an in-depth knowledge of our extensive client base. Some of Wendy’s strengths include her industry knowledge, time management, empathy for people, and a sound work ethic.
Wendy provides management support to the Agent, as well as taking on the role of major account renewals and servicing, complex claims management, and training/mentoring of other staff. She is also responsible for servicing a small portfolio of clients based in Adelaide and the Mid-North area.
Wendy works primarily from her home in Adelaide, but also provides holiday relief support in Port Lincoln office when required.
Wendy’s interests include watching her grandchildren play sport and catching up with family and friends.
