The latest findings from Roy Morgan Research demonstrate that a whopping 15.6 million drivers are currently on Australia's roads.
This represents an increase of 1.4 million drivers in the past five years!
So, why the sudden jump? According to Roy Morgan Research, it could be the fact that the average family in Australia owns 1.9 vehicles.
Keep in mind that's just the average family - many possess far more than that.
A recent survey conducted on "family-focused, outer-suburban Aussie Achievers" - young, educated people who own houses in the suburbs and work full-time to pay off these off - reveals that 11.6 per cent of this group possess four or more vehicles.
On the other hand, "city-dwelling, public-transport-using Metrotechs" - well-educated, high-income, inner-city professionals - are more likely to have 1.41 vehicles per household.
Whether you own 1.41, 1.9 or four or more vehicles, it's probably a good idea to include motor vehicle cover in your personal insurance policy.
At Elders Insurance, we can provide you flexible motor vehicle cover that suits your needs and budget. There are three kinds of cover you can choose from: comprehensive, third party property damage (fire and theft) and third party property damage.
The first kind - as the name suggests - is the most exhaustive, and will cover you for theft or damage of your vehicle, legal liability, and towing charges (if they've been approved). You can also opt for windscreen cover and no-fault excess.
The third party property damage (fire and theft) and third party property damage insurance will offer you liability cover, an uninsured motorist benefit and, in the case of the former, fire and theft cover.
